Ubuntu is A Microsoft Product Now!

Published on July 3, 2009 in Humor by Rami Taibah

Well at least according to Dell’s website. A 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 8GB of disk space armed with Microsoft’s latest masterpiece: Ubuntu!

dell-typo

Update: Here is the original Dell website. The error is still up. Not fixed. Doesn’t matter, print screen already did the damage ;)

Update 2: After 5 days from the original post, Dell finally fixed it.

I think we might be missing a valuable lesson here. This is all free advertising for Ubuntu. Haw many people buying dells do you actually think even heard of Ubuntu. They just see pretty pics and Dell recommends this (usually highest cost upgrade) and have no idea what they're actually getting. "fully upgradable" "oh I heard that was a good thing" *click click*. So they may be sad to find that Ubuntu is not microsoft. But now they know of Ubuntu.
  • I'm loving it! Hilarious.

    Ha ha ha
  • lmao that's classic!!
  • Not only this, once I was buying Dell Laptop. I've choosen to customize it, and upgraded the processor from 2.10 GHz to 2.56 GHz, and I was shocked to see that price decreased. Well, then I contacted the customer care number and they fixed it in a day...
  • lol love it i bet dell pay good money for that pic back :P

They still did not fix the "Faster processor" claim on the right hand (dearest) model that runs at 1.33GHz as opposed to the other two (cheaper) models that run at 1.33GHz.

You'd think you guys would know more about computers since you're so obsessed with how evil microsoft is and how glorious Linux is. It states, "Equipped with Linux Ubuntu." The "Microsoft Operating System" part is built into Dell's stat sheet template- it should just be labeled "Operating System" but since until recently Dell has dealt exclusively with Windows, their template says "Microsoft Operating System" because the idiots who BUY Dells in the first place need a label to let them know that it's "Microsoft" Windows- they aren't smart enough to know that Windows is a Microsoft product. Kind of like how a Ubuntu user isn't smart enough to know how templates work

I always loved MS, and it is only natural for Ubuntu to be part of MS. I kid, I kid...

I wonder if they did it on purpose, to convince people afraid to switch to a unix-based OS.
