Windows Vista Code Revealed!!

Published on March 3, 2008 in Humor by Rami Taibah

Well not really, it’s just a funny little ad by techradar I found in the Linux Format Special Edition “CODE IT!”

/*
TOP SECRET Microsoft(c) Project:Longhorn(TM) SP1
Estimated release date:2008
*/
#include “win95.h”
#include “win98.h”
#include “leopard.h”

char chew_up_some_ram[10000000];

void main () {
while (!CRASHED) {

if (first_time_install) {
make_10_gigabyte_swapfile();
do_nothing_loop();
search_and_destroy(FIREFOX | OPENOFFICEORG | ANYTHING_GOOGLE);
hang_system();
}

if (still_not_crashed) {
basically_run_windows_xp();
do_nothing_loop();
}
}

if (!DX10GPU()) {
set_graphics(aero, very_slow);
set_mouse(reaction, sometimes);
}

// printf(“Welcome to Windows 2000″);
// printf(“Welcome to Windows XP”);
printf(“Welcome to Windows Vista”);

while (something) {
sleep(10);
get_user_input();
sleep(10);
act_on_user_input();
sleep(10);
flicker_led_promisingly(hard_disk);
}

creat_general_protection_fault();
}

Now that the Vista code is revealed, MS coders please step aside and let the real Open Source coders salvage what your foolish hands wrought! :P

    The code didn't bother me so much as the last comment, "please step aside and let the real Open Source coders".

    What does open-sourceness have to do with it? What the hell. The truth is, and this is something I've had to learn the hard way a few times now, is that open-source projects' code in average sucks.

    As for the joke itself, it wasn't funny because there was no indents.

    Yup, Vista just borrows from XP and older versions, has a different, look and demands a hell of a lot more power for nothing, I was very happy to upgrade from Vista back to the more stable, tried and tested XP.

    Yes, I do mean upgrade! :D

    When they pull the plug on XP, I'm off to Ubuntu!

    I don't see a "make_fucking_paper_clip_appear" function. Is this just a developer's copy or what?
